Manufacturing data and AI platform
VZSOR vs Instrumental
A cloud or self-hosted platform for finding failure modes across factory data, mainly for electronics. VZSOR is a bench station for small machine shops.
| Instrumental | VZSOR | |
|---|---|---|
| Price / how sold | Volume-based, with no dollar prices published: “Starting from 10M signals” and “Starting from 10K images.” Annual licenses are the usual route; a monthly package is available. [1] | Public pilot price, $3,500, credited toward a station. Station price set after pilots. |
| Who it is for | “Instrumental is best for products with medium to high complexity, high-performance requirements, or zero defect requirements.” Customers make “as few as ten units/month up to 1M / day.” [2] | Built for small high-mix machine shops. |
| Training data | Finds new failure modes “using just 5 units and an anomaly-detecting AI.” [2] | Trained on good parts only. Defect parts are used only for testing. |
| Hardware | Takes images from existing equipment “like AOI and X-ray,” or uses Instrumental drop-in stations. Stations are licensed “for a nominal fee.” [2][1] | One bench station: USB camera, enclosed LED light box, V-block fixture and a standard computer. |
| Where it runs | “Run Instrumental in a managed cloud or within your own environment.” [2] | Inspection runs on the station computer in your shop. The dashboard is a web app; a per-shop setting keeps part photos on the station so only counts reach the cloud. |
Fair is fair
Where Instrumental is stronger
- Joins images with test and factory data from suppliers, final assembly and returns, across lines and sites. [2]
- Managed cloud or self-hosted, with MES and factory-system integration. VZSOR has no PLC output yet. [2]
- Handles high-mix programs: its page says 40% of programs are high mix with 100s of SKUs. [2]
- Base platform includes unlimited users, and unused data and images roll over. [1]
