- Create your account at vzsor.com, then follow the Setup Assistant.
- Install the station app on the computer that the camera plugs into.
- Use Chrome or Edge for the dashboard on that computer. Safari cannot reach the station app.
- Teach the part with about 30 good parts. No defect samples are needed to train.
- Test with 3 good and 3 bad parts before you inspect for real.
What you need
A Mac or a Windows PC at the bench, the VZSOR station (camera, light box and fixture, on loan for the pilot), about 30 good parts of one part number, and a few parts with the defects you care about. You also need an internet connection for the dashboard.
Time budget: sign up 1 min, Setup Assistant 2 min, download and install 3 min, pair 30 seconds, camera and box 2 min, photograph 30 good parts 6 min, training 2 min (runs by itself), test 3 good and 3 bad parts 2 min.
1. Create your account
Go to vzsor.com/login and choose Sign up. Use Google or your work email. After sign-up the Setup Assistant opens. It asks for your shop name, your first line and your first part number. It takes about 2 minutes. When it ends, the dashboard opens with a short tour.
2. Install the station app on a Mac
On the dashboard, open Station and click Download for Mac. Open the download and drag VZSOR Station into Applications. Open it. If macOS says it cannot check the app, open System Settings, Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway.
A camera icon appears in the menu bar. The app starts by itself when the Mac starts. Go back to the Station page in Chrome. If Chrome asks to let this site reach devices on your local network, click Allow.
2. Install the station app on Windows
The Windows app is in testing. If your bench computer runs Windows, tell us and we send it to you during the pilot. On the Station page, click Download for Windows and run VZSOR-Station-Setup.exe. If Windows SmartScreen shows a warning, click More info, then Run anyway.
A VZSOR icon appears in the system tray, and the app starts by itself when you sign in to Windows. If the camera does not show, open Settings, Privacy & security, Camera, and turn on camera access for desktop apps. The app listens only on this computer, so Windows Firewall should not ask. Go back to the Station page in Chrome or Edge. If the browser asks to let this site reach devices on your local network, click Allow.
3. Pair the station
The Station page shows a 6-digit code. A window on the computer asks to pair with your shop and shows a code. Check that the two codes match, then click Pair. Nothing is paired until someone clicks Pair on that computer.
4. Teach a part
On the Station page, open Teach a part and pick the part number. Put a good part in the fixture and draw a box around it on the live view. Then place one good part at a time and press Space for each photo, up to 30. The page warns you if a photo is blurred, too dark or too bright. If you change the box later, take the photos again.
Click Train. Training takes about 2 minutes and you do not need to watch it. VZSOR then sets the PASS/FAIL threshold from good photos it kept aside, so that few good parts are rejected.
5. Test, then inspect
Click Test it. Place 3 good parts and 3 parts with real defects, one at a time. Each one shows PASS or FAIL and a heatmap of where the part looks different from the good ones. If a result looks wrong, tell us before you inspect for real. A person makes the final call on every part.
This has been checked on one part so far: a 2 by 2 inch aluminum L-bracket with a mill finish, with dents, scratches and nicks. Your part is the pilot.
If something goes wrong
The Station page says no station found: check that the station app is running (menu bar on a Mac, system tray on Windows) and that you use Chrome or Edge, not Safari. No camera: unplug the camera and plug it in again, then check the camera privacy setting. Photos too dark: close the light box lid and check that the light is on. Still stuck: email us and we set it up with you on a call.
